Children’s Minnesota - Cancer & Blood Disorders

Given all the chemotherapy Freddie received, we quickly learned Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy would be essential to his daily routine during his treatment journey. His PT and OT team dedicated themselves to ensure these daily visits were as fun as possible. They put on the most elaborate scavenger hunts for him, along with countless arts and crafts possible.

Another resource available is Music Therapy, which is an evidence-based allied health profession that uses the clinical applications of music to meet individualized non-musical goals. These goals could be physical, cognitive, emotional, or social. Once Freddie was handed his own guitar or drum set to play, he was all smiles creating his own music.

To close out Pediatric Cancer Month this past September, The Freddie Solum Foundation granted The Blood and Cancer Disorder program $30,000. This donation will be split evenly among the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Music Therapy programs; made possible by generous donations of those who love Freddie most.

Make A Wish - Minnesota

Freddie was granted a wish when he was home on hospice care. He wished for a scavenger hunt in Linden Hills at all his favorite spots, with superheroes along the way cheering him on. Make a Wish, was not only able to grant his wish, but they made it happen in less than a week. We are beyond grateful for how quickly they made his wish happen. Unfortunately, due to the progression of his disease, his wish ended up consolidated to our back yard. But Make a Wish was still able to bring him a day filled with happiness and joy, a day which ended up being one of his last. We’re forever grateful for this organization, for the smile they put on Freddie’s face, his sister’s face, and all of ours in the hardest times imaginable.

Recently, the Freddie Solum Foundation was able to grant two kiddos their wish, totaling $25,000; made possible by generous donations of those who love Freddie most.
